ANNAPOLIS
Epping Forest
Epping Forest, established in 1926, is a gated waterfront community located in Anne Arundel County along the Severn River, just two miles from the Naval Academy. Nestled between Saltworks and Clements Creeks, this close-knit, self-governed neighborhood is home to nearly 300 residents. The community boasts a mix of traditional fishing cottages and modern homes, once a weekend retreat but now a permanent residence for many families working in Annapolis, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.
The heart of Epping Forest is the Clubhouse and beach, where residents gather for a variety of events throughout the year. Signature occasions include July 4th fireworks, the Oyster Roast, Fish Fry, Youth Camp, co-ed volleyball, and fishing tournaments. The Clubhouse is open all summer and on Fridays during the off-season, offering a welcoming spot to enjoy a burger and a beer with neighbors. Drevar Park, a peaceful community area, provides breathtaking views of the Severn River, where you can often watch the Naval Academy crew team practice.
Unique to Epping Forest is its charming chapel, modeled after the historic Epping Forest chapel in the UK. The chapel hosts bi-weekly services, weddings, and memorial events, adding a special sense of tradition and community to the neighborhood. With winding roads and a strong sense of camaraderie, Epping Forest offers a tranquil yet vibrant lifestyle for its residents.
