SHADY SIDE
Avalon Shores
Established in 1932, Avalon Shores began as a summer vacation community, home to small cottages primarily owned by residents from the greater Baltimore and Washington areas. Over time, it has evolved into a vibrant and diverse neighborhood of approximately 580 homes, the majority of which are now occupied by year-round residents.
Avalon Shores is designated as a Maryland Special Community Benefit District (SCBD) and does not operate under a traditional Homeowners Association (HOA) structure. Instead, community matters are overseen by The Avalon Shores Civic Association, Inc. (ASCA), governed by an elected Board of Directors, which must comply with § 4-7-101(d) of the Anne Arundel County Code.
